Have I been lucky but can't remember having to change an exhaust on a car recently whereas a few years back this seemed to be a regular occurance.
Has design improved or do modern fuels not corrode as much ?
Modern exhausts tend to be made of stainless steel and this lasts very well..
Driven by longer car warranties and emissions regulations..and the lower costs of stainless.. plus automation in manufacturing.
Diesels usually don't corrode their exhausts, cos the inside gets all coated in soot. I've never replaced one anyhow.
Maybe that will change if a DPF stops the soot reaching the back box ?
