I picked up this car only a month ago, it's under warranty but I need a little help. It starts fine, runs well too for the most part. The trouble is that when I'm driving around either locally or on a run, when I accelerate (usually between 30to 50 mph) the engine feels really sluggish, as if blocked and there is black smoke blowing out of the exhaust. After a short while the sluggishness goes and so does the smoke. Anyone got any ideas?

Black smoke is cause by to much fuel or insufficient air, its most likely due to a restricted air supply, the usual reasons for this are colapsed air pipes or a clogged air filter but as it clears this is probably not the case. It could be that the turbo/control system is failing somewhere. Getting the fault codes read may come up with an answer.

Could be a blocked DPF as a result of some other parts of the DPF system not working correctly.

You ideally need a Planet diagnostic to not only get fault codes, but check individual components, which third party diagnostic tools can't always do.

Is there anyone near you on this map, its a list of Peugeot owners who have the Planet diagnostic equipment who will help you out for beer money.

Yeah, Stubby in Crewe isn't a million miles away, thanks. The DPF has been suggested a couple of times now. As it's still under warranty I might try to get the garage I bought it from to run the diagnostics themselves as well as contacting Stubby to see if he can help. How do I contact the guys on the map? Thanks again.

I'll give Stubby a shout and tell him to look at this thread.
