Hi all I have a 2006 1.7cdti Meriva, it's very sluggish when I pull away or am going up a hill. The turbo cuts in at 2.5 rpm. Sometimes foot is flat on the floor and it will slowly increase in speed. Could this be the clutch? I tow a 750kg trailer but haven't done since last year as I'm not sure it would cope. Any help would be appreciated, many thanks

Check or replace the MAF sensor. Its just after the airfilter with an electrical plug attached.

If they get dirty then you would get the symptoms described and it doesn't always throw up a fault light on the dash.

Thanks, will give it a try. No fault lights show on the dash.

Thanks for your help

You can buy maf cleaner off ebay but i tried it on ours and it didn't make any difference.A new maf was required.Be careful of copies on ebay, they are cheap for a reason.Only a maf from the main dealer is guaranteed to be genuine.I am not saying don't buy the ones from ebay but i have heard that they only last a couple of months before going again. The genuine ones are probably made by someone like bosch.

Hi, cleaned the maf sensor and took the airfilter apart and cleaned that, the pipe that goes down from the filter (breather pipe ) was clogged so cleared that, there's very little difference. It's been on diagnostics this week and no fault codes were shown. Without looking deeper in we were told it could be anything from valve clearance to a sensor. It was checked to see if the dpf was clogged. I spoke to the main dealer and it's 243 for a genuine part, a lot of money to spend if thats not the problem. Any other tips we can try would be appreciated. Thanks

Meant to say, it's an Isuzu engine.

Time to flog it I think. You could spend a lot of time and/or money and still have a problem: that's the infuriating nature of this sort of fault.

If you do flog it, serioualty consider a petrol engine next time.

Don't really want to get rid, and can't afford another cr at the moment.

I removed the lead from the maf sensor and drove the car around the block, it seemed to run better so I'm going to give it a better clean this weekend, would it be worth spraying the actual plug (and letting it dry) or would you not do this? I know you can test the sensor with a voltage meter, which is the best way to do this and what does it need to be set on?

Many thanks
