Citroen Xsara Picasso - battery light stays on - rde

the battery light came on about six months ago and stayed on ever since.

apart from the light been on every time you start the car i have no other problems, never had a flat battery. how do i make this light go out.

Try disconnecting the small terminal from the alternator, the light should then go out, if it does I suspect you have an alternator fault, if it doesn't the lead is shorted to earth somewhere.

You could take the bulb out.Very easy on this model.

The black plastic surround just unclips and pulls forward (no screws).The digital display is held to the dash by 2 torx screws.Take these out and this will allow the display to tilt forward.You can then remove the bulb and holder.

Why on earth would you take out the bulb? The car is trying to tell you something is wrong. Surely it would be better to fix the problem rather than the equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears?

Get a Lexia diagnostic check done, there's a comprehensive network of Pug / Citroen owners with the gear who will be able to help out.

Its no wonder some cars get a bad rep, its because of the actions of the former keepers.

Where would we be without a lexia diagnostic check.Its common fault a diode in the alternator stops switching its of no problem so taking the bulb out is the easiest and cheapest way.
