Hi guys the work has gave me another van which is a 12 plate transit t350 crew cab

I'm wondering if my license covers me to drive this?

I passed my test in Dec 2011 in a standard manual car. I know I'm allowed upto 3.5tonne. But because it has 4 wheels on the one axle on the back that confused me

Yes I have checked direct gov website but I can't make any sense of it

I don't know the gvw mate. Reg plate is HK12 DLF if that helps?

I think the 350 in the model number indicated 3500 kg MAM, so legal on a B licence -

AFAIK only the Jumbo Transit is over 3500 kg.

If you have access to the vehicle, look at the VIN plate in the engine compartment - that should show the Gross Vehicle Weight / Maximum Authorised Mass.

Why does it say crew cab in the title yet you have said it has three seats???

Anyway, can you even get a current Transit greater than 3.5 ton? I don't think that you can.

I'd say that you are perfectly legal to drive it if it is a T350.

As I understand it the plaque shown in the photo only relates to the tyre rating required to be fitted to the vehicle. The total load capacity of the tyres is in excess of the GVW. It does not mean the Transit can carry 4.2 tonnes.

Almost all vehicles have a lower MAM than the sum of front + rear axle limits - this is to allow some flexibility in positioning the load.
