A friend has an imported Golf (current model) and the external temperature display on the fuel computer shows degrees F. Does anyone know if it can be persuaded to show degrees C ? Trivial I know, but if for the sake of pressing a few switches...

Thanks,
John

Presumely the fuel computer will also read in km, km/h, L/100km etc as well?

oddly enough no,MPG.

I'm afraid that he may have to find a friendly VW dealer and persuade them to plug his Golf into their diagnostic system. Apparently there are dozens of parameters than can be reset via the VW software (Central locking modes, cruise control, all the various displays, etc.) It's weird for the temp control to show degrees F unless the car was built in South Africa where they may still use F.

Berti,
thanks for the info. As I say, it's trivial so what the heck. It does seem strange that it shows mpg but degrees F.
Thanks again,
John

Is the car fitted with the Climatronic automatic air conditioning as in the Skoda Octavia? If so, pressing and holding the Econ button then operating the Auto button will change the display from ºF to ºC and vice versa.

I've no idea. I'll ask her to try. Thanks for the suggestion.

Success ! That worked a treat with no adverse effect on the other units of measure and it changed both the climatronic display and the fuel computer display. Please find attached one virtual pint voucher.

Thanks,

The combination seems normal:

Imperial measures e.g. degrees F, mpg for the Americans

Metric measures e.g degress C, l/100km for Europeans.

As Brits we sit somewhere in the middle.
