Ford Focus 2003 - Hatchback lock - vic34

My hatchback won't open with the remote key although I can hear something activating when I press the button and there's no movement at the lock. Anyone any Ideas?

Does the tailgate open from the switch on the dash?

Hello.

Yes the hatch does open on the dash button. After further investigation I found the lock mechanism to be sticky and lubricated with WD 40. Sorry for wasting your time. Regards.
