I broke my Ankle a couple of Months ago, and apart from a couple of times where the car was either left running or driven about 6 miles by my wife, it has been largely static, It was serviced in May and was in very good running order.

It was taken out yesterday, again another 6 miles, with no issues.

Today it started fine, but had very little power or pull going thru town, the engine warning light came on (Malfunction Indicator Lamp), indicating an emissions issue, but power returned, it was driven for a further 15 miles with no problems at all, it pulled normally, there was no smoke or unusual sounds.

It was parked up for a few hours and taken out again, for some 25 miles, the MIL remained lit at start up and during the journey but the car behaved exactly as it should do.

Up until a 18 months ago my car did have a re-occurring issue with the DPF warning light every 6 months or so, due to the low daily mileage, then; once the car was taken for a blast the light went out, I suspect being sat for mostly 2 months is the cause rather than a fault, but questions remain; will the light go out, and what else can I do now other than take it for a blast or see a main dealer ?, any info would be greatly appreciated.

A few years ago, DVLA suspended my licence for 10 months due to a medical condition - I ran the engine up to warm about once a month but to avoid issues with the DPF I got a friend, who's an ex-traffic cop, to take the car and me out for a long drive - having first established that his insurance covered driving other cars, albeit only third party. We covered motorway/dual carriageway and included an "italian tune-up" but not as vigorous as I would have done, don't think I could stand for someone else doing that to my pride and joy.
