There was a leak behind the sink and the worktop was sagging.

Cost of fitting new worktops about £800.

Cost of new doors, £1900.

Cost of new kitchen £3500 in sale. "Designer came and measured everything.

First delivery noticed some stuff missing and some wrong.

Phoned, missing stuff ordered.

Second delivery door damaged.

Regularly hear this sort of tale, one person I know's still waiting for the correct delivery two years later!

The funny thing is I am just waiting for 1 x 300 mm wall cabinet which should arrive today, but all the incorrect stuff that ha been delivered will not be collected as returns are not accepted after 7 days even though it isn't my fault.

The total is probably about £800, which I have NOT paid for as the correct items have been delivered now FOC and come under remediation, they measured and planned te kitchen,

Dumpedin their car park or what ? Ebay or gumtree?

When we last bought a kitchen (MFI) bits were missing, bits were duplicated and bits were damaged or substandard. All replacement bits were delivered to complete but none of the extras were collected and they did not want them at the store. Eventually made a bathroom cabinet from the best and some garage cupboards from the rest (with the addition of some board I already had).

Thanks MFI, I just love free stuff.

No wonder they went bust.

Still waiting for an oven to be collected from 1983. Wrote and told them it was in the garden and if it was not collected by a certain date it would be disposed of. By an odd piece of luck shortly after the date a passing van asked if they could have it, goodbye cooker.

We’ve had an MFI kitchen from just before they went bust so about 17 years. On delivery it was missing a key corner post that took days to come plus an extra door that they didn’t want back.

They were pretty cheap but have been OK until recently when a couple of the white slab doors started to peel alarmingly. The foil just became completely unglued and split off in big sections. Luckily I’ve found that B&Q stock generic replacements for about £40 for a full size door. The hinge spacing is different, simply requiring new positions for the mountings on the cabinet. I also needed to juggle old and new doors to ensure the slight colour difference wasn’t obvious. I had to do it quickly before it became an excuse to have a full refit. £80 and a couple of hours well spent.
