Motor insurance advice - Gary Jennings

My son is due to pick up his new car in april/may under a pcp agreement. His current was damaged at night by a car being chased by the police while he was asleep. The repairs are booked in for late march. My question is if the repairs are not done by the time he gets his new car, what happens to the repairs on his current car because he will no longer be the legal owner of the damaged car. The insurers have already confirmed that my son was not at fault and wavered any excess. Will this have any effect on the value given towards his new car? Many thanks in advance.

I expect the deal will have to be postponed until the car is repaired.

He may get the dealer to take the car in its damaged condition on the understanding that his insures will pay for repairs but I doubt it.

He needs to talk to the supplier of the new car ASAP and make them aware of the situation.

A few years ago, it happened to me, I signed a waiver for the dealer.
