2011 BMW X1 1.8d - Stop/Start failed - BPL

are there any bright people on here that have seen this before?

Have had a new coded battery on dealers advice, fully charged by driving and AGM charger but still not fixed. dash fault code is CC ID 397 andd the "A" with an arrowed circle warning..forums suggest brake servo vacuum sensor, gearbox neutral indicator calibration or I think the most likely the gearbox electrical connector as the dealer reluctantly changed the sump a while back due to threading the bung and it leaked oil everywhere (now fixed at dealers expense).

Any help gratefully received.

There are loads of parameters that have to be met before the s/s system will function . Battery and vacuum sensor on the servo are prime candidates for a non functioning system . Only way to get an accurate assessment is to check the diagnostics.

Has the new battery been correctly installed and coded? That can upset the BMW S/S system.

Check and fully charge the battery, (will need connecting to a charger, it can take a LONG time for a battery to be charged by the car) and run the car until engine is up to temperature before check if Stop Start is working. If that does not make a difference then you need to check the fault codes.

Battery was installed by dealer so hopefully it's ok. Had been charged with agm charger and driven. Worked intermittently now always alarms.

My excellent local independent found the brake servo sensor faulty via diagnostics and replaced it. All working fine. I think it's about a tenner for the part and a bummer to get to. Diagnostic check was £20 :-)
