Nissan Qashqai - Qashqai, loss of power, alarm going off etc - Disgusted at Daya
Bought 3 months ago 67 plate, 12k miles.
Loss of power on and off with no pattern to it (revs don’t drop and feels like intelligent braking cutting in) alarm gone off 9 times in a week. Start/stop only works properly for a while both times it has left Nissan garage - for a few days then works only roughly once a week.

Has been into Nissan twice, all they have done is plug it in and drive it 10 miles...nothing else.
It is registering no error codes at all - not past or present. Apparently it should register in it’s history each time the alarm goes off including the date but not even that is happening. So basically the car thinks nothing is wrong with it.

Nissan Garage already saying they may not be able to fix it. Everything I suggest like fuel pressure ECU etc they just dismiss, yet can give me no idea at all as to what is wrong - not even suggest when asked. They did try banging on about the DPF (told them no at the time) and low and behold it was not that.

Called into local garage on the way home and they plugged it in and flagged it two error codes, but Nissan aren’t really taking any notice of that.

Have said they need it in for a prolonged time to replicate fault, what so they can feel that it feels like the intelligent braking is cutting in when not meant to. I can’t see what use that is if still not registering any fault codes and did not offer me a loan car for that time (under warranty) until I asked for one - they told me in 2 weeks. I’m not prepared to drive a car loosing power out of the blue like that for two weeks! What if it does it whilst over taking or pulling out of a busy junction? It’s dangerous! Especially when I have grandchildren in my car which is daily.

If those 3 things are happening, it all points to multiple electrical faults??? In which case why are they not considering ECU?

Any ideas most welcomed thank you.

During the diagnostic process, has anybody tried disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to let the ECU reset itself?

Please NB I'm not suggesting you rush out and do this straightaway, because there might be implications (radio codes, etc, etc), but if you have access to someone who can do it 'safely', I would give that a go, if not tried already.

Have you considered rejecting it?

12k miles in 3 years doesn’t sound promising. I wonder how many owners it’s had . This car may have been subject to previous rejections .

My exact thoughts, if this is a diesel it will have been bimbling about and that isn't good for it.

Start the rejection process asap.

You need to be very careful of disconnecting the battery without letting the car shut down this can take up to 40 mins if it is done to early it can cause the ECU to fail. Is the vehicle a Diesel or Petrol ? and what engine is it.
