After the "yes" of their respective boards of directors, the PSA and FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) groups detailed the terms of their union.

Carlos Tavares at the controls.

As announced in October, Carlos Tavares, 61, chairman of the PSA board, takes operational management for five years of the new giant, which becomes the world's 4th largest manufacturer (8.7 million vehicles per year), behind Volkswagen, Toyota , and especially the Renault-Nissan alliance, which he left in 2013, in the middle of a showdown with Carlos Ghosn. He finds himself at the head of a portfolio of 14 brands: the five of the PSA group (Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel Vauxhall) to which must be added Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Fiat, Lancia, Maserati, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM. A conglomerate that represents 170 billion euros in cumulative turnover and 400,000 employees.

The VAG group seems to get along with plenty of badge engineering - but fewer badges I suppose. No doubt there will be a shakeout before very long, following the Talbot example.

Yes I read that too - there are apparently advantages in operating out of the Netherlands, there was an attempt by the Unilever CEO recently to move the company base to the Netherlands, it failed, and he got moved - out.

Rumour is they will be killing off the DS brand now they have Alfa Romeo.

This announcement explains why Fiat have been non committal with the Tofas factory in Turkey regarding new commercial vehicles ; must be planning to re-badge the various PSA offerings.
