Hi all

I posted a thread earlier about how my abs /esp warning light came on in my Peugeot 308. Tonight I took it for a short run to see if the issue was still there, I noticed quickly that the brakes (or something else) was crunching when I was braking at low speeds. The I got a "brake system" warning which told me to stop the car.

I'm pretty worried about this, anybody got any idea what could be going on? I guess I'm going to have to get a garage come out and uplift the car for me to have a look at it

Now with more info it would probably better to get the system checked soon. It may be you have caught some wiring to the abs sensor ?

Hi thanks for the reply.

The thing that worries me is the juddering /creaking brakes at low speed, is there any way faults on the sensors could cause this?

Tonight there was a period where the abs /esp light wasn't on but the juddering brakes was still happening

Sounds like at least one of the ABS rings has a crack / break in it which is confusing the system - it thinks the wheel is locking up, and hence fires the ABS at low speeds, which is the noise you can hear. On the front at least these are built into the wheel bearings, so it's not a cheap fix....

You are right not to drive it, as if it gets really bad, it can prevent you stopping the car...
