Lydl offer - Battery Charger - Peter D

I bought a battery charger form Lidl model ULGD 5.0 A1.

Whilst it is smart enough to detect 12 V and 6 Volt batteries it can not wake up a flat battery below 3.8 volts. Useless. Regards Peter

Are you sure it doesn't pulse charge?

Yes it does but the manual states" if the voltage is below 3.8 or above 15V the battery will not be charged"

So if you left the sidelights on all night you could not recharge the battery. Regards Peter

I have two chargers - one from the pre-smart-charger era which just puts out a steady current at 12 volts and a more modern so-called smart charger.

On the occasions I've had to deal with a totally flat battery the first is the only way to get things going. After a couple of hours you can switch to the other charger and finish the job off.

Why someone can't design a modern charger to wake up a flat battery I've no idea.
