Mazda 6 - Car had a cheap paint job - MazdaManOrNot

So I bought this car which has obviously had a cheap paint job and its flaking away! Its a silver car, but as the paint falls off its exposing black areas...not sure what it is, I'd of expected primer or base coat. It feels like plastic, its not black paint. here is an image of the damage imgur.com/a/bugKOW9

I want a quick fix just to make it more presentable, what would be the best way goint about that? Its certainly not worth getting it professionally done.

Thank you for taking a look

Mazda 6 - Car had a cheap paint job - hardway

Difficult to tell from the snap,

car looks like it's cammo!!

But if I'm right then its part of the wrap around bumper so it is plastic.

And painting plastic isn't really a diy job so it's take it to a pro or live with it.

From the crazing, it looks to me like it's had a knock and the flexing has caused the paint to fall off. I'd get a quote or two from bumper repair places.

I've got similar on my bumper where some clot hit it whilst parked, i'd like to bill the other party but it appears the note he left on my screen with his details must have blown away in the wind.:-)

Like yourself, sooner or later i'll have to drop it into the handy little bodyshop i use and get it painted.

Every picture tells a story - it looks very much like the bumper has had a spray job previously, but not primed with etch primer, so the surfacing primer hasn't bonded to the plastic bumper.

Get a touch up stick of the right colour and paint over with a small brush the black areas. It will look better (from a few paces away at least)
