Ford manual claims 35mpg on urban (town)driving. I am finding it hard to get 28mpg!

Is this normal with other makes and models too?

Tests to provide government fuel consumption figures are undertaken on a rolling road, and do not reflect actual road conditions. The purpose is to compare one car to another. You should not expect to achieve the stated miles per gallon.

Your driving style, type of journey, quality of maintenance and weather conditions will all determine how much or little fuel you use.
