My Porsche Boxster 918 was stolen and recovered the same day - so why won't my insurer return it to me?

My 981 Porsche Boxster was stolen and recovered the same day (15 August 2017). I'm still waiting to get it back from the insurance company. The ECU was cut out and the car was generally thrashed. Talking to the garage, they tell me it's proving difficult to get a new wiring loom from Porsche. It's looking like it will be six months until I possibly get it back. This doesn't seem reasonable. What are my rights? Can I insist they write it off? Can I push to be reimbursed for depreciation, insurance premiums and tax?

Yes, advise your insurance company that you wish for them to place in writing that they will cover any future damage to the running gear of the vehicle should it fail, as you suspect damage to the engine/gearbox suspension/wheels and tyres. Is the garage owned by your insurer or is it your Porsche garage? Either should have incorporated the items mentioned within the blueprint of repair they provided to Esure. Your car is a total loss all day long. They should settle the claim as a total loss, and pay interest from the date of loss. Raise a complaint about the insurance premiums and tax, as their ineptness has caused this situation.
