What do you recommend to clean stained car seats?

I have stains on my car seats. I've tried vinegar and bicarbonate soda, as well as vanish, but they make the seats worse. Can you recommend another option?

I always found Simoniz car upholstery cleaner to be best. It removed caked engine oil from the velour seats of a Cavalier, leaving no trace, which I though was remarkable.
