Can you recommend a hatchback that is shorter than 4596mm to replace our Vauxhall Vectra?
We are 76 and have enjoyed the comfort and trouble-free motoring of our Vauxhall Vectra Design for the last six years. We are thinking of replacing it in the near future, but the Insignia is too long for our garage so really we would like something very near to the 4596mm length of the Vectra. We don't really want to go down to the size of an Astra or Focus. We only now do 6000 miles annually. Have you a shortlist that would fit the bill, with hatchback if possible?

Have you considered a Skoda Octavia? It's a usefully large hatchback which isn't too big, plus it's very well built and easy to drive. It's 4569mm in length, so it's slightly shorter than your Vectra but still a size above the Focus/Astra-size models. Aside from this, there are very few hatchbacks that are as short as the Vectra with most, such as the Mazda 6 etc, coming in at more than 4750mm. We weren't able to find any we'd recommend.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
