Why won't SEAT assist with an ESP fault on my 4-year-old car?
My car was out of warranty on 17/3/09 and has had three dealer services and my last service was at Kwik Fit. I had this problem diagnosed by Kwik Fit and got in touch with SEAT about a 'good will' gesture. SEAT got back to me and said they wouldn't even consider 'good will' unless I had the diagnostic check done by SEAT themselves and the dealer should open a case on my behalf. I did this at a cost of £74.03 and they have just got back to me today, saying that they don't offer goodwill gestures when a car is over four years old.
This was passed to me through the dealer who said I should call SEAT UK if I wanted to discuss it further (on an 0844 number, to add insult to injury). I have just called SEAT but the person dealing with my case has just gone home. I was led to believe by this operator that I would have a fight on my hands to get the diagnostic check costs back. I am hoping to get the costs of the check back and then go to the repair company you have quoted in the thread. What should/can I do if they refuse to pay the diagnostic check costs back, seeing as I felt pushed into paying them when I already had a perfectly good diagnostic check? Also what do you think about SEAT UK's stance on this problem, seeing as Volkswagen seem to be offering around 50 per cent of the repair bill on similar cases to this?

When I brought this up with SEAT's staff they denied any knowledge of the issue at all. If the garage performed the diagnostic check with the implied promise of a goodwill payment from SEAT, then you might have success using www.moneyclaim.gov.uk to claim the cost back from the garage.
