TPS Issues

I have recently experienced a problem with my 1999 Fiesta - where the engine dips and sometimes stalls when cold, but more recently it has become much worse to the point that its almost impossible to drive.

I have recently had to replace my battery, after having the RAC out after my car wouldn't start (the starter motor couldn't even turn the engine over) and after a few tests the mechanic suggested a new battery, which I did and my car now starts again.

It is since I have done this however that the problem has worsened, making me think it has to be electrical. I have read a lot of topics talking about the TPS (throttle position sensor) being a common problem with these models, and I am keen to give this a try as it should be relatively easy and low cost..

What I can't seem to find anywhere though, is a detailed description of where exactly I can find this item on my car. If anyone can advise where it is/how to get to it, it would be much appreciated.

Well there is a known fault on your model of the TPS. However it is the wiring harness multi plug that fails (not the sensor).

There is a modified harness available from Fords (part number 1 150 138).
Might be advisable to get local garage to identify where it is fitted.
