Does my Land Rover Discovery 4 have a 'Black Box' which records information in an accident?
I recently bought a Discovery 4, and was told by someone within Land Rover that the car contained a 'Black Box', which (in the event of an accident) recorded information on speed, engine revs, etc. immediately prior to the accident. Is this correct? And, if so, who would have a right of access to this information? The police, my insurers, other parties?

That's right. Most cars now do. Even my own little FIAT 500. It records about a months worth, then runs out of memory so it needs to be downloaded onto a USB stick. Smart police investigators obviously have access to this because it is evidence. I've only read of one case of anyone being prosecuted for speeding on direct evidence from the car’s central computer, and that was in a Jaguar.
