Why are there delays on BMW new car deliveries?

I ordered a new BMW X7 which was supposed to be delivered on 23 September. It’s now 24 October with no sign of the car, and the dealer has updated the expected delivery date to 30 November. I realise that BMW has an issue with deliveries at the moment, my question is whether I’m likely to get the car this year? I sold my old car in readiness for the new car’s arrival but now I’m left high and dry.

BMW put a pause on deliveries in recent months due to an issue with braking systems affecting 1.5 million cars, with over 300,000 of those being vehicles yet to be delivered to customers. Although they are working through the affected vehicles there will inevitably be delays in getting vehicles to customers. There is no guarantee that your vehicle will be delivered before the end of the year, but we would suggest staying in regular contact with the dealer and contacting BMW UK to see if they can offer more information.
