Mondeo or Insignia

I have approx. £13,000 to spend on a used car. I love the Ford Mondeo but I also like the Insignia, mainly because of the inside. Which one would you buy? I only do about 5,000 miles per year which includes a return trip to Scotland. I have looked at all other makes but keep coming back to these two.

In our tests, the Insignia ecoFLEX beat the Mondeo ECOnetic on economy, but did not handle as nicely on its low rolling resistance tyres. At this stage the jury is out as to which will be the more reliable long term. I'm not getting the same horror stories about the Insignia 2.0 diesel engine as I was of the Vectra 1.9 diesel. The Mondeo 2.0 Ford/PSA diesel seems to be very reliable. More so than the Ford/PSA 1.6 diesel.
