The DVLA say my wife's car has been scrapped but it hasn't - what can we do?

The DVLA state that my wife’s car has been scrapped on the 24/5/23 but the car passed its MoT on 27/7/23. There's no Certificate of Destruction received nor any payment of Scrap value received. The DVLA reckons it was scrapped but cannot tell us where. Please advise the best route forward ?

We suspect this issue has been caused by an administrative error, with a car that has a similar registration to yours having been scrapped. We would suggest contacting the DVLA directly using the following link: www.gov.uk/contact-the-dvla/y You may need to provide photographic evidence that the vehicle is still on the road as well as a picture of the VIN and a copy of the V5/C.
