Is buying a five year old electric car a gamble?
If I buy a five year old electric car am I taking a huge gamble on whether the battery will last? It would be prohibitively expensive to replace.

Not really - early examples of the Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe and BMW i3 are now at least 10 years old and we're hearing very few reports of issues with the batteries in them. Specialists are finding that EV batteries are generally lasting way beyond their typical seven-year warranty.
If you cover no more than 100 miles per day and have easy access to a charging point at home or work, then an EV is ideal for you.
