Bumpy car
I'm looking for a 3-year-old Audi A4 Avant with a bit of grunt but many on offer have the S-Line option, which I understand to include lowered, "sports" suspension and bigger wheels with ultra-low profile tyres. Does this option compromise the ride comfort like, say, the M Sport option does with BMWs? I enjoy driving my present 330CI but, on British roads, it's making my arms and bum ache.

Early production A4 B7 S-lines were appalling. But by late production of the A4 B7 S-line they had somehow sorted out the spring and damper rates so the ride was nothing like as bad. This has carried over to the SEAT Exeo, which is basically an A4 B7 with the new engines. I can't tell you what year and month the ride improved on B7 S-lines, so you'll have to judge the ride of the cars you try for yourself.
