Crash and grab

My daughter is in a slightly similar situation to T.F. In February she was pulling out of a side road (you have to edge out as there are cars parked on both sides of the main road and you cannot see). She saw a car coming and stopped, the other car braked but, due to the ice, slid gently into my daughters car. At best it could be described a nudge. There was absolutely no damage to either car, this was her first accident and she very naively did not take any photos or a telephone number, they exchanged registration numbers and carried on. A few days later she got a call from her insurance company asking why she hadn't reported an accident and she explained what had happened. The other driver is claiming whiplash, her insurance company is dubious about the claim and to date has not paid, as it is being dealt with by the investigation team. Last week she received a recorded letter from the other party's insurance company stating that it is about to start proceedings against her. Her insurance company says that as she is fully comprehensive they will deal with it, but following your reply to T.F. I am concerned.

It's a typical cash for crash operation and, very nastily, they are trying to scare you into admitting liability. Get a solicitor onto it and countersue, alleging the other person was driving without due care and consideration for the conditions. What an unpleasant county Britain has become.
