I intend to purchase a family hatchback, which I wish to keep for some time. The VW Golf Mk VI with the 1.4TSi engine looks interesting. However, it also looks complicated. Would there be any reliability problems with this engine?

Test and video test of the Golf Vi 1.4TSI SE at www.honestjohn.co.uk/road_tests/index.htm?id=369 It was recently voted 'World Car of the Year' 2009, though conclude for yourself what that says about the World car industry. It doesn't steer as nicely as a new Megane, for example. But the turbo is water-cooled, so well protected against heat damage. The engine is chain cam. The glovebox is velour lined. There are indicator reminders lens-side of the door mirrors. And you can actually get your golf clubs in a Golf.
