My wife is currently the main driver of our vehicle, if I register myself as the main driver will she lose her No Claims Bonus?

Our car is registered in my name, our motorhome is in my wife's name. We both have maximum no claims and are in our 70s. I'm the only named driver for the motorhome. My wife is unwell and hasn't driven for a while and, as such, I'm the main driver. She won't contact the insurers to register me as the main driver though because she is concerned she would lose her no claims bonus. What should we do?

Your wife's no claims bonus will be valid for three years, so it should not be an issue to register you as the main driver. Speaking to your insurer is your best bet though because it may be on a specialist policy and, therefore, might not make the slightest bit of difference. As the vehicle is not the main vehicle being used it should not really change things. However, if your wife is very unwell and might not drive again then it may be best to inform your insurer of these changes.
