  miles and turbo and DMF gone on that too. Last month we had a Vectra 1.9 D (2005 or 6, can't remember) engine totally AWOL at 100k (it was a taxi) and a similar age Mondeo TDCI with broken up fuel pump at 60k. No wonder there are some cheap s/hand cars about. My little bit of advice to diesel owners

  to use a/c when it was trying to heat? I know the heat is effectively free, but the a/c compressor must put some load on the engine. I guess I should keep the a/c off when I don't need it in future. This is on a Jag S-type, which maintains a specified cabin temperature when the heater controls are set
