  Some very wet roads on Friday night seem to have gotten to the alternator, first sign of which was the rev counter dropping to Zero as I believe thats how the revcounter is driven. Measured the voltage across the battery with the engine running and it was struggling to get much above 12.5 volts

  , but then proceed to go upto 2500rpm and will not move when i depress the accelerator. At this point the battery warning light comes on as well. The battery is less than 6months old. If i then restart the engine..it does exactly the same thing. Thanks for any advice.

  a quick search and it appears it could be something to do with the battery not being connected properly. I dont have any further details as she called me on the phone. Would using jump leads help in this situation - ie to find out if it is the battery terminals/connections?
