Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - 04 1.4 New brake discs required? 13 May 2009 (Forum)
are "lipped" discs and is it normal to require new discs at this low mileage. Is it inadvisable to replace pads but retain discs in "lipped" state. Certainly want braking performance to be optimum so won't penny pinch if this does need done, £215 quoted for front pads and discs. Would appreciate any advice -
Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 00 z18zxe check control gone a bit loopy 7 Jan 2009 (Forum)
evenin' all; SWMBO's Zafira developed a little 'feature' a couple of months back, finally got round to having a look today. Basically the TID is constantly showing 'brakelight'; although all 3 brake lights are in fact working. Poked around in the rear light clusters today, both brake light bulbs -

So i bought a second hand Laguna 2 3.0 2002 and i love it but recently i've noticed a problem. If i'm stopped and in auto, when i let go of the brake and push the accelerator there is a jerk and then the power comes. I've played around with this and i found that there is about a second delay -

Hi all, The brake lights stopped working on my Audi A3 1.8, checked the fuse which appeared to be ok, but just to check i swapped it with another 10 amp fuse in the rack. Unbeknown to me i had just swapped it with the power supply for the onboard diagnosis/telephone. Now the damn thing wont start -
Volkswagen T2 Bay Window (2000 - 2007) - Bleeding brakes on old car without foot-pedal 23 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hi - have to bleed the brakes on a 1972 camper van but don't really want to depress the footpedal too much for fear of damaging the seals by pushing into rough places they have not been for years and ending up with a very expensive master cylinder replacement - this happened on another old car I -
Why isn't corrosion on discs removed by pads? 12 Aug 2008 (Forum)
One of the rear brake discs of my car has a band of heavy corrosion on one of the braking faces, about 8 mm wide at the outside of the disc. The rest of the disc's face is clean. I'm not concerned about it because it's passed two MOTs, but I'm curious as to why this corrosion hasn't been worn away -
Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.4 Brake overhaul-bleeding 7 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Need some help please. Helping a friend bleed his brakes after he had fitted new rear discs and pads and despite having bled all 4 wheels we can get no pedal at all when the engine is running. There is something there before you start the engine but when you do the pedal goes straight to the floor -

Mazda 626 (1997 - 1999) - V reg - 2ltr - Corroded Brake Pipes 25 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I got advisory on brake pipes recently. I've had a look at them. They are mostly still coated in plastic. The part where they are slightly corroded is where they are bare a few inches from the flexi hose. Can the life of these pipes be prelonged? I thought that greasing them might preserve -

Fancy tail lights: form over function? 24 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I followed an Altea (regular, I think, not XL) up to a roundabout in gloomy light this afternoon. As it braked for the roundabout, I realized that, although the right indicator was flashing (and had been before the brake lights came on) I could barely see it. I've noticed something like -
Renault Megane 1998 wheel / brakes noise 18 May 2007 (Forum)

Scary moment tonight on Motorway 1 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Driving home through Glasgow tonight on M8, in outside lane following a Mini, doing about 60. We round a bend and it is stand on the brakes time. A car is sitting broken down in outside lane. As I slam on the brakes, I quickly glance in my side mirror but the traffic on my left is too heavy -
306 - rusty brake disc 14 Jun 2004 (Forum)
New front brake discs and pads fitted about 15,000 miles ago, and there's still plenty of life left in both discs and pads. But recently a slightly rusty band has appeared on the inner surface of the right-hand disc. The band is about 1cm wide, starting at the outside edge of the disc. I say -
Brake Pads - Mk 4 Fiesta 14 May 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, I've decided to change the already worn down brake pads on my Mark 4 Fiesta and have purchased some new ones. However, it was only when I got them home that I realised I knew nothing about changing them! I do want to do it myself as I want to be more mechanically minded. Does anyone -
Peugeot 406 Sinking Brake Pedal 1 Jul 2003 (Forum)
A bit of advice please: My 1996, 90,000 mile 406 ABS 1.9TD has developed a slowly sinking brake pedal. If you push on it hard, it very slowly sinks about halfway down over about 30 seconds. I presume this is indicative of a faulty master cylinder. I've checked all over for leaks and can see -
A6 Auto - odd knock on foot brake 7 Apr 2003 (Forum)
My 1996 A6 2.8 auto has just just started making a very noticeable sound when I press the brake pedal before selecting a gear. It's not a clunk, a bit sharper/more metal on metal than that and comes from right under the shift. It may be unassociated, but I also seem to hear a quiet tapping at about -
