  Hello, Can anybody help me ? I have got a 1998 A4 1.9TDI SE, and the LCD display in the dashboard doesn't work. The car runs as with no faults. Could it be a grounding fault ? Please anyone help ! Awaiting someones reply.

  Difficulty in starting when cold, need to turn ignition key for 30 seconds for engine to catch, then splutters and pops before eventually running (30 seconds). Once warm starts fine. Plugs, distributor and leads replaced. Any clues?

  Coming back on the subject oil/oil additives,which paricular brand of oil do BR rate for diesel cars. Some people say Shell Helix tends to make to make there cars run quieter,whereas other barnds have opposite effect. What brands are good.

  My council run wardens have a tendency to drive around looking for illegally parked cars to slap a ticket on - I suppose that this means that they can "do" more cars. However they more often than not park on single and double yellows to issue their tickets. Is this "legal"?

  having just purchased a bmw 318i se w reg i am dissapointed by excessive road noise, more like a roar really, i have 195/65/15 dunlop sports fitted, is there a problem with this particular tyre or can someone suggust an alternative that is quiet running

  Just noticed that at some point a tyre has being wrongly changed. Means running with 3 165/70R13 and one 175/70R13. Which means one tyres 1cm wider and 0.7cm higher so 1.4cm total higher I guess. What do people reckon on the sensibility of this?

  I have a Golf MK.IV 2.0. The rear wiper suddenly stopped this morning. When the wiper stops the motor is still running as you can hear it, the wiper will also carry on moving if you just nudge it. Does anyone know what can cause this and is it an easy fix.

  Is Shell Optimax 99 ron? I have read that it is in the backroom archive pages, but there is no mention of this on the Shell pumps or at the Shell web site. My car seems to run better on Optimax but then stays that way for a tank or two when I fill (from empty!) with 95 ron fuel.

  I own a factory produced bi fuel ford focus. It runs rough at low revs and after gear changes. Is this the engine management computer fighting over the petrol/lpg systems? Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks 23/8/02

  Here goes... 2p on unleaded 3p on diesel VAT up to 19% - which adds yet more your fuel and your purchase / running costs. Road Fund licences up 10%. All "to fund the NHS" which now spends something like 55% of it's revenues on administration.

  Is it this that detects too much unburnt fuel in the exhaust as a result of cold start then stop? If so, how does it detect it? I thought it detected oxygen, not hydrocarbons. Also, if it packs up, then engine can still run, so how does it tell the ecu to shut down firing?
