Stinky car - creosote 30 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Was doing some shed clearing over the weekend, including lots of old pots and jars with unknown contents. Now the car absolutely stinks of creosote or something similar. I can't see any evidence of leakage anywhere so I'm hoping it's just "in the air". Leather upholstery btw. Remembering something -

Car Park Moan 26 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I witnessed the most incredible display of lazyness and bad manners today in an Asda car park. A fairly respectable looking woman filled her 4x4 boot with shopping from the trolley, closed the tailgate, realising that she could just drive forward through the parking space in front, she just left -

Focus spring broken 5 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Today my wife told me her car was making a noise as if a brick had dropped on the bonnet. On further examination I found that the offside front spring had snapped! Her car is 3.25 years old Focus TDCI with 17900 miles on the clock. I am amazed that a fairly new car, carefully driven, could have -
Ford Escort key problems 14 Mar 2006 (Forum)
An old Escort (a 1997 1.6 16v) has come into my ownership. it drives well and has long tax/MOT so I might keep it but ... the car has two keys, one to start it and one to unlock the doors. the door key is bigger and has the transponder in it. Therefore to start the car I have to hold them both -
Fiat Marea Weekend 19 Nov 2005 (Forum)
mother had a Cinquecento (early 1970s vintage) which rusted before her eyes. Father once tried to change a wheel on it when it was about 3 years old, and the jack just went straight through the bottom of the car.) -
Independent in Worcester for Renault RX4 17 Dec 2004 (Forum)
A friend has a 3.1 year old Scenic RX4 just out of warranty and just out of a service with the main dealer. It has just over 50k on the clock and the gearbox won't stay/select 5th. The local main dealer has her car in pieces and quoted £1,500 for the repairs. They say there is no goodwill -

RX8 alternatives 22 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Our 17 year old son takes his driving test in 10 days time, and if he passes we intend to buy him a car as a present. He will mainly be using the car for his ½ mile journey to college, and for his part time job delivering Pizzas, so the Mazda RX8 is obviously not suitable. This narrows the choice -
Mondeo Locking Problem 1 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Our '96 (pre-facelift) Mondeo has recently developed an intermittent fault, which is causing some irritation! When locking the car, the central locking motors can be heard whirring (but for a greater length of time than usual), however the car refuses to lock. This problem can be remedied -

Dear All Happy New Year and all that old sausage. Has anyone bought a rear seat DVD player for the children (a good fight preventer, I'll be bound)? If so, what is recommended. DVD (although I have none), VHS (I have loads). Also from a previous thread about children in the front of a car, what -

Which cars have the worst mud traps? 7 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Now that we are at the end of the Winter, it's a good time to remove trapped mud. Some cars have the most appalling mud traps to their long term detriment. My suggestion: Peugeot 106 (Mk 2). At the bottom rear of the front wings, mud gathers behind the plastic wheel arch liner and sits in a nice -
Big engined American cars 26 Feb 2003 (Forum)
, relatively. Are big American cars built with engines that should really develop more power because the designs are old or because they are tuned such that they last a long time? Something Ive wondered about, thats all. -
Back to the future in adland 25 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Ever seen any of those old car ads of the Fifties, where the proportions of upright boxes such as the Ford Popular and Humber Super Snipe were subtly (sometimes not so subtly) tweaked to make the cars appear longer and lower? The practice died out when manufacturers started using photos rather -
