Volvo V70 (2007 - 2016)
D5 SE Lux Estate
Very comfortable load lugger but not up to Quality of previous V70.
I have this Phase 3 V70 for just over two years now and bought at 6yrs old with 103000 miles Volvo up to 60k. Very comfortable and spacious with a solid feeling and a lot of car for a low outlay . Reliable provided you keep on top of the servicing especially the auxiliary belt and tensioner. Fuel consumption is heavier than earlier D5 averaging 33 to 34 MPG,not too bad for a big heavy car, but still down approx 10 MPG on Phase two V70 with same engine . Build quality is not what was expected and certainly much lower than the previous model. Interior is good but paint and running gear are poor compared to earlier Volvos, probably due to the Ford influence and cost cutting .Since purchase I have had to replace the rear trailing arm front bushes, now a known failing and front shocks and mountings , discs and pads all round but to be fair brakes are consumables and is to to be expected. Shocks are consumables, but previous model shocks were still good and quiet at 180000 miles . Would I buy another Volvo V70 ? Probably yes but would look seriously at other makes now rather than just Volvo. Would I recommend to a friend ? Yes but with warnings .
