A Golf with space

I changed up my Golf 1.4 tsi for this for one reason only, having reached an age where body parts sart to fail and a repeat of a long endured slipped disc problem, I needed a vehicle with easy entrance and exit.
Various different makes were scrutinised and test driven and my initial preference would have been the Suzuki Vitara Booster Jet, petrol being prefered over diesel as my mileage is not anywhere near what it was so more disadvantages than pluses.
The Suzuki was rejected despite being first choice for two reasons, price and the fact that deals with the new model were minimal and the fact that much of exterior was boy racer in most colour schemes as was the interior, not for me.
Others were also rejecte for lack of decent petrol engines or poor vision out and numerous other reasons.
The Golf SV was not even initialy considered, it is not a come and get car like some others, but its size was right the engine choice was right and if it was anything like the Golf TSI it would not be far off the mark.
A review of a Golf hatchback is the basis for any review of the SV, the differences are slight in most areas, handling not quite as crisp, performance slightly down, different gear ratios or engine mapping ? and one item that has been pointed out elsewhere road and wind noise is up on a standard Golf, why this should be with the same platform and sound deadening I do not know but it is, altering tyre pressures makes no difference, nothing bad just not as good.
The interior is Golf with space, very little difference in layout or fittings just more space around, and the seats with the added height can be adjusted to as near perfect even for me with an Italian profile of long body short legs.
If the cosumption data is anywhere near acurate I am getting almost the same as the hatchback an average with mixed driving of around the 42mpg mark, reliability is somehing to come back to as nothing (and nor should it) has failed yet, the only item that is not 100% is the stop start which has a mind of its own starting up from standstill on occasions without any input from me, as I shall switch this off as with the last one (it made no difference to mpg, that will not be a problem.
Only one item is on my black list, the electronic brake, I totally fail to see the advantage yet all manufacturers are following suit, why ? it offers nothing other than another electrical item to malfunction and you are lef with no back up if it does.

So overall pleased so far and I got a very good deal that lowered the price well below a hatchback, so the overpriced tag did not apply to me.
