Very pleasant surprise

Browsing around a car supermarket. Spotted this. Didn’t even know what arteon was. Needed replace 2016 merc e class AMG est, which ate alloys and wheels and was costly all round. This has nice lines. Aesthetically pleasing. Was apprehensive about performance being just 1.5 petrol against 2.2 AMG merc diesel. Was pleasantly surprised. Road handling was really good. Economy better than merc diesel with arteon giving over 40mpg against merc barely achieving 40mpg. As for gadgets. Awesome breaking sensors that apply breaks if you don’t react to parking sensors. On auto cruise it senses car in front and decreases and then increases speed so you don’t have to keep resetting it. The sat nav can be “sent” to sit between your speed /rpm dials so is in the best place. There’s so much to mention that this car has (and I thought merc knew how to trick cars up with gadgets). And I haven’t even mentioned the touch screen with its blue trainer to help improve your mpg /driving style, all the adjustable vehicle settings /personalisation, the phone accessibility, media/entertainment, it just goes on and on. Then there’s the room. This car has more leg room for everyone. Even more than my e class AMG estate! Boots huge. Leather seats are amazing quality and comfort. One of best driving positions ever. Just wish had electric seats, although does have really good heated seats. And one thing it does have which made me so happy (when you’ve spent hours at roadside with a flat tyre and some gunk that’s meant to repair tyres you will get this) a full size spare wheel that’s actually a full alloy wheel. No space saver and driving at low speeds to the nearest garage. The missed events because merc tyres are so ridiculously soft and the amount of pot holes and bang there goes another tyre. So many missed appointments/functions sat at roadside awaiting rescue for hours. This is so much an executive car. But why did I go for 1.5 tsi evo dsg? From a 2.2 AMG diesel? Well besides it being decent performance from arteon petrol, I’m expecting the government to hit diesels next and with higher maintenance cost of diesel, against the cheaper costs of running arteon and it being petrol with pretty impressive handling and the evo (evolution) engine really gets the most out of this 1.5, I rest my case. Oh, I tried the Audi and felt it was so old manny and dated. And they wanted £4K more!!! Really.
