Vauxhall Zafira (2005 - 2014)
Design 1.7 CDTi ecoFLEX 110 5dr
Excellent car
Get 49/50 mpg with 16 inch wheels. I think it would perform better with 15 inch wheels like 2003 model which I also own and unwilling to give up. Very solid build and feels like an executive car (525 BMW I owned), but does not have the same response as the 1.7 is in a much lower class and not sporty at all. Bought at 18,000 miles, done 62,000 miles. Had to replace air conditioning pump after leak in condenser. Replaced under warrantee. The 1.7 diesel is very reliable, but 6th gear very tall and engine struggles to cope under 2000 rpm. Use 5th gear and car is powerful enough and rarely needs a change down. Also more frugal in 5th than 6th gear. Never failed an MOT and had no failures at all. It has nearly every bell and whistle, except speed control which is a must on long hauls. Satnav very good, but map update very expensive. Satnav screen too low on console and you need to look too far down to read the map (that means taking your eyes off the road while driving. The bluetooth works very well with iPhone 8 and never missed a beat. 7-seater very nice and used with 7 adults! Smaller adults (5.6”) should sit in back seats. Easier to get into back seats than with Zafira 2003 model. Have seat warmers and works very well in winter months. Parking sensors are a dream as the nose is longer than 2003 model. Though the handbrake performs well, the H-handle is a stupid idea. Had one heater wire recall and was replaced by Vauxhall without hesitation. Tyre wear very even on all sides with no toe-in corrections needed even though I bumped the curbs twice.
