Vauxhall Viva (2015 - 2019)
1 litre automatic
The worst car ever please read
We bought this brand new, we do not drive a lot, 2 weeks out of guarantee the gearbox had a fault at 25000 miles.
Vauxhall stated the part was £1750, and £130 per hour to fit it x 5.
We were then informed the parts are not available for ten weeks, and none are made in the world to press.
We was informed the part would have to be made in Germany and would take up to 10 weeks.
January 2nd 2020, Vauxhall said "the parts are still not available", and the only solution is a new gearbox at £4500 + VAT + fitting.
At the point of breakdown they stated that 5 of the same model had the same fault and would be waiting for their parts also.
This is a massive shame, as this car is lovely in every other way, it is not super fast, but it is a pleasure to drive, we (did) love it.
The end of this is, we had to buy another car, to run about in until this one was repaired, the cost was £4000 + insurance.
The repair will be anything over £5000, the car is now valued at around £6000.
What a complete nightmare from Vauxhall.
9 weeks and still counting, still no car, when I do get it back I am selling it. I will trade it in at a Vauxhall garage, and buy a none Vauxhall, and give them the car back that they sold me, three years ago for £10.250 in cash.
Expensive? yes, it was at the time, we bought this for our retirement, the last car we thought, we had leather fitted, and all the extras for our own comfort.
Never again will I buy any Vauxhall (not that I have long to buy cars now) I do not trust this brand.
End result.
Car 10.250
Repairs 6000.
Buy another car 4000
Value of Viva after repair 6000
depreciation of Viva 4250
Do the maths and buy one at your own peril.
