Vauxhall Astra Sport Tourer (2010 - 2016)
Exclusiv 1.7 CDTi 16v 130 ecoFLEX Start/Stop 5dr Estate
Econemy of a small car with that extra boost when needed.
I have driven this car for nearly 2 years now. Only thing that needed changing in that time outsiding of the service scedule was a new BOSCH Lambda o2 sensor due to some hesitancy and stalling on slowing which set me back under £100 by sourcing one online and getting a friendly machanic to fit it for £20 which was a 15 minute job. Also I clean the MAP sensor of carbon once a year with some electical contact cleaner which evaporates in minutes.Thats important on most diesels. I now achieve easily 50mpg over the last 5000 miles according to the on board computer on an average speed of 23.9 mph. Just over 60mpg on steady motorway runs and can get over 70 mpg on straight A roads which I think is fantastic for a car this size. Oh I take out the air filter and give it a hoover every few months which is another good tip which gets over looked.
This has the 1.7 Japanese ISUZU engine as opposed to the 1.3 Fiat unit.
Its a great size car on longer journey's and has the pull to carry loads when full.
This one is currently in the £30 a year VED tax bracket so more money saved there. So all combined its a great monthly saving on my family budget compared to the older less efficent diesel engines.
I bought used at 3 years old and estimate it would have cost me less than £3000 in depreciation in the 2 years I've had it which to me is cheap motoring.
Over all its been a great work horse and a great family taxi !
