Vauxhall Antara (2007 - 2015)
Vauxhall Antara 'S' 2.0tdi 4 x 4 automatic
A 'Friday afternoon build' an absolute rogue vehicle.
The Antara broke down on me in France when it was just one week old and it has had problems ever since. The electronics are a nightmare and so far, it has been back to the dealership 12 or 13 times, plus twice to Opel when we've been visiting our son in France. On one occasion, we were just boarding the ferry when the low brake fluid light came on. We stopped at Cite Europe and purchased the correct fluid, only to discover that the bonnet wouldn't open. We tried and tried and the cable snapped so we had to travel 640 miles with our fingers crossed that we'd make it. Opel in Annamasse managed to open it, but it took 3 of their mechanics to do it. When it was a week old, the speedo cable became disconnected and I was without the car for 5 days because they couldn't find the cause. Another time I had to return it to the dealership on a recall because the computer system had to be upgraded, that took them 4/5 hours to get it sorted because Vauxhall downloaded the wrong programme. I have just had to have a new gold tipped loom fitted to correct the electronic faults, but it hasn't worked. It's just died on me 3 times in 2 days. Vauxhall have so far refused to exchange this rogue but have given me an extra year's warranty, as have the dealership but what I want and think I deserve is a replacement vehicle. When it works, it is very comfortable but what's the point of having something comfortable if it spends quite a lot of its life back at the workshops. Having died on me twice in the 3 days since the new loom was fitted, what am I supposed to do.
