For a low mileage driver unbelievable economy and a delight to drive.

The Ampera was car of the year in 2012 and fully lives up to this award. It is well built, comfortable and simplicity to drive particularly with regenerative braking allowing minimal use of the manual brakes.
With a range of 50 miles on battery and an ICE for unlimited longer journeys, its main advantage is for low mileage drivers such as myself having covered near 4,00 miles on 30 litres of fuel and an estimated £100 for electricity in 13 months of ownership.
On the downside as a life long Rover owner the modern aerodynamic shape is not to my taste and some people may not like just four seats, but the main barrier to purchase is the initial cost of around £30K. If it was £20K everyone would want one!
