Overall reliability

A great little car but the performance is so-so

Bought the Yaris from a National Car Supermarket on a 61 plate with less than 6K on the clock.
Good: Quite spacious for a small car. Nicely screwed together. Reliable so far. Fair economy. Visibility is excellent.
Bad: Amazingly lacklustre performance from a 100bhbp car with no real oomph and lots of gear-changing required to maintain higher speeds if going up hills. Economy not great either with sub-40mpg around town (I used to get 40mpg from my T plate Corsa 1.4 in the late 90s which didn't have all the economy features of this modern petrol engine) but a longer run brings low 50s without too much hassle.
Overall: Reading the above it would appear that I didn't like the car but I do. Not sure what it is but it is a nice car to drive and, if you are not in a hurry, perfectly acceptable way to travel. For a small car there's plenty of room inside and it is flexible enough to carry bigger loads fairly easily.
