The thing I like most about owning a Toyota is having the confidence that when you turn the key, when you press a switch, when you lift a handle it will all work, as it should, even 5, 6 or 7 years after purchase. Knowing that, if it doesn't and your car is under a Toyota warranty and FTSH, they will fix it, no quibbles.

Add that to a quiet, comfortable, capacious, vehicle and I am delighted once again with my choice.

I agree that these engines prefer good quality fuel, shell nitro or similar. I too get a regular real life 40+mpg from this 1.6 petrol engine. It's done 60,000 miles, uses no oil and is as quiet as ever.

Any downsides, well you won't find many rave reviews from most motoring correspondents, but there again they aren't spending their own money or running the car for several years.........you are!
