Toyota RAV4 (2019 on)
2.5 VVT-i Hybrid Excel CVT 2WD 5dr
Amazing family car
I bought this car to replace my Volvo V90 due to needing something slightly higher off the ground and wanted to dip my toe in an electric vehicle waters.
Budget was around £35000 so that ruled out any Volvo at the time however went and checked out serveral others narrowing it down to Hyundai Tucson and the Rav 4.
Tucson won on looks it was very stylish and modern but was a new product and to be honest the lane keep assist I would describe as dangerous so the Rav 4 was ordered, partly on driving dynamics fuel economy and also the amazing warranty.
I have now covered 17000 miles in 20 months and it has been unfaulting averaging 50 mpg overall, about 45 in winter and 55 in summer but did get as high as 70mpg on one 35 mile trip.
Inside it is a little utilitarian but seats are comfy full electric( driver) and both front heatedas is steering wheel. Infotainment has been slated my many however I have found it fine and with apple car play is as good as you will get. Basic sound system is just alright nothing great.
I have had the car filled with 3 grandkids double buggy and cases and it swallowed up all their kit easily.
Tyre wear has been great still has about 5/6 m left and roadholding cornering good considering it is an SUV. Traction control is a little sensitive as it activates on my downhill street every time I drive over a drain cover. Accelerate quickly in the wet can cause a bit of wheel spin as well but gentle application reduces this effect and the take off is much better than my Volvo which was always a gamble and an Achilles for the car.
Overall I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for an affordable RELIABLE load Luggger for everyday use which returns great mpg.
Landrover will take you anywhere but Toyota also gets you home.
