Toyota Corolla Verso (2004 - 2009)
T Spirit 1.8 VVT-i People Carrier
A nice place to be with flexible useage
Now on 98000 miles with oil use at 900 miles per litre. 36 mpg locally (which is most runs) with 40/41 on longer runs to the likes of Heathrow/Gatwick. I cannot get over the cars abilities for carrying things. All rear seat fold flat to the floor. when upright they provide good leg room for second row pax and a comfortable drive. Brakes are excellent, steering well weighted.Certainly the turn circle could be better. Ironically the engine seems quieter over 74 mph. All the electrics work perfectly still and I've only needed to change 1 bulb in the number plate board. Just passed the MOT without issues. Since I now only do 4-5000 miles a year, it could be argued that a service just before mot day is OTT, but being old school then perhaps the fact she's still on top form proves the point. For those with the Corolla your engine version is over square so needs revs, whereas the Corolla Verso engine is long stroke so skip changes like 3rd to 5th can be achieved at 2400 rpm and she'll pull happily. 1/2/4&5 is about it in East Anglia. The only area I would criticise is the clutch, (they say they are all the same), to many revs and it can feel the clutch springs over overcome making it jump a little, but no slip occurs.
My wife has a Prius, but despite the economy I jump in the Verso. (Maybe because it's Mine).
