Toyota Corolla Touring Sports (2019 on)
1.8 Hybrid Icon Tech Trk CVT 5dr
An excellent car all round
Our previous car was an Auris 1.8 hybrid. We had it for 3 years and were very pleased with it; the only drawback being that the boot was not big enough for our yearly holiday to France and we had to use a top box (expensive when you add on the roof bars).
The Corolla was a revelation! A much better ride compared with the Auris. If you accidentally hit a small pothole (which abound in our area of Kent) you hear it rather than feel it. The Auris would shudder, but the Corolla takes them in its stride.
The equipment level is very good, although I would like to have rain-sensing wipers. I would have gone for the Excel which has rather more equipment, but it also has bigger wheels which ruin the ride (and replacement low profile tyres cost so much more than the 16 inch ones on the Icon Tech). It's a real pity that Toyota do not offer 16 inch wheels as an option.
The MPG is also much better than the Auris. We average about 60mpg in mixed driving.
The boot is more than adequate. We were, of course, unable to go to France in the summer, but we were confident that it would have been big enough; which was a good job because our roof bars could not be altered to fit it. This was very disappointing; come on Toyota, whats wrong with supplying adaptors? Overall, we are very pleased with our choice. I hope that when our PCP comes to an end in 2023 that there is a plug-in version available. We do many journeys of under 20 miles so that would suit us down to the ground.
I haven't tried the 2 ltr version, but am assured that it is very quick indeed. The 1.8 is no slouch and I think the fuel consumption is considerably better.
Overall, I would highly recommend this car. It lives up to all the good reviews I read before we got it.
