Gearbox bearing problem
Just read the previous review re gearbox bearings and felt compelled to comment myself. I bought my Corolla from new as I needed something reliable and economical due to high mileage commuting (21000 a year). I bought extended warranty til it was 5 yrs old. It has a full service history with the main agent. The car is now five and a half years old and done 93500, the past two years the mileage has reduced. But I've just had to have the bearings in the gearbox replaced at the main agent at a cost of £1060 after the car developed a transmission noise when under load (exactly as previous review). Now have no confidence in modern motorcars surviving after the warranty expires and not prepared to wait for the next big bill so have just purchased a KIA C'eed with a 7 yr warranty. Will there ever be a modern motor car built to last over 100 000 miles?
